Tools to Survive College

20 Items Incoming Freshman Need For College

College is all about balance. Studying hard based on your major and meeting new people can be exhausting at first but also a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Here are 20 things from a college student I recommend you get to better your college experience.

#1 Flags

Perfect for dorm walls and apartments to impress others and is an excellent conversation starter for others that may see. Funny flags like these can be something you and your roommate can coordinate on both sides of your room.

#2 TV

Chilling after class and releasing some much-needed rest is a late-night necessity. A TV on your desk or a projector can innovate your room, which would make movie nights a blast on the weekends.

#3 Pillows

Even if you think just one pillow will be fine, you will regret not getting one to help posture. Most of the schoolwork you do will be in your bed, so adding that support will make work somewhat manageable.

#4 Humidifier

Once the winter comes around, waking up and going to bed will feel dreadful, with the air being so dry. With a humidifier, the room will feel refreshing and even prevent you from getting sick all the time!

#5 Shower Caddy

Going to the shower couldn't be easier with these accessories to store everything you need in one trip every day.

#5 Memory Foam Mattress Pad

As the beds that come with the dorms aren't very comfy, an underlayer can save you. Your bed will feel just as comfy as home!

#6 Clothes Hangers

Hanging up all your clothes is the best thing that you could do to dry them and make it easy to find all the shirts you may bring. You will need a lot of them!

#7 Comforter

Necessity for comfort and very easy to clean. It doesn’t matter where you go to school, you will want it!

#8 Fan

Whenever that would be a big fan for the times it gets hot, or the desktop fan for when it's been a long day, you can't do wrong with any of them.

#9 Shower Shoes

You definitely do not want to even think about your bare feet touching the floor of the communal bathroom...

#10 Mini Lamp

Having a lamp on your desk can provide a little light if you are trying to do work or just chilling and having a good time.

#11 Water filter

Saving those trips to the water fountain and being able to store water in your room is a luxury that some underestimate in college.

#12 Power Strips

The amount of electronics you connect to, whatever that would be for school or other accessories, is crazy. Managing your cables can be a safe way not to start a fire in your room.

#13 Storage Ottoman

Storage of any clothes or food can make your room feel decorative while adding clean space for access products.

#14 Laundry Hamper

Laundry can be terrible to do without a nice hamper to carry your clothes up and down the stairs. A nice way to store dirty clothes instead of a pile on your floor.

#15 Cleaning Supplies

You never know when a mess will happen, and you should always be prepared in case there is an issue on your hands.

#16 Trash Cans

Something that I see most people forget as its a things that people glance over. Small or large containers can be used for small trash that occurs everyday.

#17 Bed Risers

It may seem like it's not quite necessary, but storage underneath your bed can maximize space in such a tight room that they usually are already.

#18 Mini Vacuum

Everything seems to make it in your room, whether that would be small rocks or sand that come from who knows what. Throughout the year, you will definitely not regret having this.

#19 Photo Lines

College can be a hard transition, but having photos that remind you of the people that are far away can really bring joy in those tough times.

#20 Vitamins

College can bring stress and anxiety, and managing can be hard. These vitamins solved all the problems I had during the tough stretch college may bring. Also, it's almost impossible to avoid a sickness, so stay ready to go through it.
